Soundproof

The design is a densification in the core of the town Schwechat. It considers the urban character in it's density but at the same time it uses the existing qualities of the artificial landscape. By considering the noise pollution of the air traffic, to and from the nearby airport, we've put an acoustic blanket over the site. The blanket silences the noise by the distortion and the absorption of it's echo. As a part of this blanket all facades of the housing blocks have a similar structure as the urban plan. In wintertime this bare façade will already help temper the noise, while in summertime the façade will be covered by ivy; supporting the silencing effect and emphasizing the artificial landscape.
