This design for an art pavilion is a joyful experience of art and architecture. The design is made as part of ‘Rotterdam 2007 City of Architecture’.
The pavilion should originally be constructed in the context of the Rotterdam harbor, but is dismount able and can be relocated to cities worldwide.
The construction is composed of hexagons that carry the different floors. This, fully dismount able, steel construction stands free from the thermal shell as an expression of a constructive architecture and functions as an extra frame for advertising and sun shading on warm summer days.
The pavilion consists of four floors to reach a certain height, that fits the scale of the surroundings and that allows wide perspectives from the upper floors over the port of Rotterdam.
A maximum floor area is used by also programming the roofs as terraces and thereby finding a place for the exhibiting of outdoor art.
